Campaign Activity Report

Overview

As of November 2007, the Cathedral campaign has raised over $105 million in gifts and pledges for construction of the Cathedral Center of Christ the Light. Individuals, foundations, corporations and businesses, and organizations throughout the East Bay have responded generously to Bishop Allen H. Vigneron's call to help.

Major Grants

Without major assistance from two local foundations totaling $67 million, construction of the Cathedral project would not be possible. The Diocese of Oakland is honored to have received this support.

Major Gifts

In addition to the support of foundations, leadership gifts by individuals have been decisive in moving the construction progress forward.

Next Steps

Parish fundraising is moving forward based on the major grants and leadership gifts raised to date. The latest phase of activity began in summer 2007 with a focus on parish fundraising activities. Cathedral campaign staff continue to meet with pastors throughout the Diocese to help plan meetings and events in order to develop donor interest in supporting the Cathedral project. Informational events have already been hosted at several parish churches and others are being scheduled throughout the rest of 2007.

A focus of the campaign will be to meet with and inform those parishioners who have larger gift-giving capabilities. Bishop Vigneron has also asked that every parishioner have the opportunity to support the Cathedral before the Dedication Mass on September 25, 2008.
